Mortal Kombat 2 does not bring Bi-Han back as the same fighter. He died in the first movie. Now he is back as Noob Saibot — but this is not the same person at all.

The fight between Scorpion and Bi-Han is one of the best parts of the movie. These two already had a strong personal rivalry in the 2021 film. In Mortal Kombat 2, that rivalry gets even more serious. They fight inside the Netherrealm, which makes the whole battle feel darker and more violent.
Then comes one shocking moment. Scorpion cuts the shadow body in half — vertically, straight down the middle. The shadow is destroyed. But Bi-Han does not die. He survives. He escapes. And he takes the Amulet of Shinnok with him.
This ending is very important. If Bi-Han had died again, his story would be over. But Mortal Kombat 2 keeps him alive.

The Mortal Kombat 2 film Bi-Han fate is directly connected to Shinnok and the power of the Netherrealm. This is a very big change from older stories.
In many older games and adaptations, Noob Saibot usually followed stronger villains. He worked under people like Quan Chi or Shang Tsung. He was important, but not central.

Here, Bi-Han is not following anyone. He is the guardian of the Amulet of Shinnok inside the Netherrealm. That is a very powerful position. The amulet is not just a small background detail in this movie. It is treated as a seriously dangerous object connected to enormous dark power.

Why Noob Saibot Looks Different In Mortal Kombat 2
The filmmakers also changed how Noob Saibot looks — and it works really well.
His new costume mixes dark metal armor with traditional Lin Kuei clothing. Some of Bi-Han’s old identity is still there. But death and the Netherrealm clearly changed him. The materials in the armor were reportedly chosen because they react differently under light. Sometimes the suit reflects light strongly. Other times, it looks almost completely hidden in darkness. This makes him look unsettling and strange during fights.
Compare this to the 2021 Sub-Zero costume. That one looked practical and realistic — like gear worn by a trained assassin. The new Noob Saibot design looks colder, darker, and less human. Every part of it reminds you that this person came back from death.
Mortal Kombat 2 Quietly Removed The Arcana System
Mortal Kombat 2 also quietly moves away from the Arcana system used in the first movie. The dragon marks and the idea of unlocking inner power are mostly gone in the sequel.
This was probably a smart decision.
Now, powers come from dark magic, death, and Netherrealm corruption — not hidden energy inside a person. This makes Noob Saibot feel genuinely dangerous, not just powerful.
His shadow abilities, his divided identity, his ghost-like fighting style — all of it now feels like it belongs to the Netherrealm itself. His transformation feels permanent. That gives him much more importance as a character going forward.
Mortal Kombat 2 is clearly building Noob Saibot into one of the series’ biggest threats. His powers are stronger. His connection to the Netherrealm runs deeper. His journey is not finished, and more events can come. For fans of Bi-Han, this might just be the most exciting thing about the whole movie.
