Riya Ahir is a model and activist who became well-known during student-led protests in Mumbai in July 2026. During one of those protests, she was seen blocking a police vehicle. After this, an FIR was registered against her. Then, in August, Riya Ahir model met a top Mumbai Police officer – Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Manoj Sharma – along with a Mumbai Youth Congress delegation. The meeting was about the FIR and also about threats she said she was getting online. Now, what did the police have to say?
Why Did Riya Ahir Meet The Joint CP?
The meeting had two clear reasons. And both of them were serious.
First, Riya Ahir and the Mumbai Youth Congress delegation gave a formal written complaint to Joint CP Manoj Sharma. This complaint was about the FIR that was registered against her after the July protest. She directly asked the police to withdraw that FIR.
That was her first request.
But there was a second issue too, and this one was about her personal safety.
Riya Ahir told the police that certain people were threatening and harassing her on social media. It was not just about mean comments. She said the messages were serious enough to be called threats. She wanted the police to look into this and take action against the people responsible.
So the meeting covered two very different situations. In one, Riya Ahir was the person who had an FIR against her. In the other, she was the one reporting that she was being harassed and threatened. Both issues were placed in front of the senior officer at the same meeting.
What Did Manoj Sharma Tell Her?

Joint CP Manoj Sharma received the written complaints from Riya Ahir and the Youth Congress delegation. He listened to what they had to say.
According to the Youth Congress representatives who were present, Sharma gave them an assurance. He said the police would look into the issues raised in the complaints.
On the FIR issue, the representatives said that the Joint CP assured them that the police would begin the legal process needed to review the FIR and consider withdrawing it.
But here is one thing that needs to be understood properly.
The police did not say the FIR was already cancelled or withdrawn. They said they would examine the matter and follow the correct legal steps. Those are two different things. The assurance was about starting the process – not about an immediate decision.
Still, for Riya Ahir, this was a positive step. A senior police officer had formally received her request and agreed to examine it. That matters.

How Will Police Handle Online Threats?
Now, what about the online harassment she reported?
Riya Ahir told the police about threats and harassment she was receiving through social media. Her complaints covered things like cyberbullying, threatening messages, and what she called malicious behaviour by certain people online.
The police heard these complaints too. Officials assured her that these would be examined carefully.
They also said that if the examination finds something wrong, and if the law allows action, then the people responsible could face legal consequences.
This part of the meeting was completely separate from the FIR. The FIR was against Riya Ahir. But the online harassment complaints were filed by her. Both were discussed in the same meeting, which is why the outcome had two parts.
What Happens To The FIR Now?
So where does everything stand now?
After the meeting, the FIR against Riya Ahir has not been confirmed as withdrawn. That has not happened yet, based on the available information. What happened is that her request was formally received, and the police said they would go through the required legal process to review it and consider withdrawal.
The Youth Congress representatives confirmed this – that the police would begin that review process.
At the same time, her complaints about online threats and harassment will be examined separately. Police said appropriate action would follow based on what the investigation finds.
So the position after the meeting is this. Riya Ahir asked for the July protest FIR to be taken back. Mumbai Police said they will examine the matter properly. Her online harassment complaints were also taken up and will be looked into.
